Xmas shopping list

Posted in Retail Therapy at 12:29 am by Paloma Cruz

And the silly things continue. Here’s one more thing to add to my “I want” list for Santa:

  • The Wonder Woman Cami and Panty Set is a really silly thing for someone my age to want. I would never be able to show it to anyone. But it’s still going on my list. :-)

Take care of yourself and your home this winter

To-Done has a list of things you can do to “Winterize Your Body.”

One of the things I’m going to try really hard to do this winter is not get sick again. I’ve been under the weather on and off for the past week and I’m bound and determined to put a stop to that. Luckily there are all sorts of resources that offer advice on keeping fit through the winter months. I’ve compiled a list of tips for those of you who, like me, want to get a head start on your healthy New Year’s resolution.

My two favorites:

  • Drink in moderation. I know it can be hard, especially during the holidays, but the more you can limit your alcohol in take the less chance you have of getting sick.
  • Drink lots of water. A good idea for holiday parties is to substitute a bottle of water for every other drink. This cuts down on your alcohol intake and helps you get the extra water you need.

Or you can visit wikiHOW’s “How to Prepare Your Home for Winter” for some steps on taking care of your home this cold season. A few that actually apply to Texas:

2. Caulk around window and door glass and trim, and all exterior trim. Install or replace weather stripping on all doors and windows. Check for cracks around pipes and electrical outlets entering or exiting the walls.

4. Have your heating system checked by a licensed heating/air-conditioning professional. Most furnace manufacturers recommend at least annual inspections.

Although it doesn’t get truly cold in Houston, it still gets cold enough to take care.

Beginning a Xmas list

Posted in Retail Therapy at 10:52 pm by Paloma Cruz

I’m starting a list of things I want for Christmas. Really, Santa, I’ve been a very good girl:

  • The Louis Vuitton Trapeze GM bag I just saw in Purseuing. Even though I’m not supposed to be carrying big bags, because of

More will be added later.

I don’t want to kill you, And you don’t want to be dead

Posted in General at 11:07 pm by Paloma Cruz

I just finished watching Silverado, one of my all time favorite movies.

I don’t want to kill you
and you don’t want to be dead.

I love that movie. Which is kind of weird, when you consider how few women there are in that movie. And there aren’t any real female roles in there, mostly prostitutes and damsels in distress, some of which are both. But there’s something about it that makes me watch the whole way through.

He can’t hurt me if he’s dead.

I guess it’s the same incomprehensive compulsion that makes me watch the Ten Commandments every time it comes on TV as well.

There’s no accounting for taste.

the fat girl speaks

I’m trying to remember when I stopped following my doctor-ordered diet. I’m trying to remember with no luck whatsoever.

When did I stop watching what I eat and start eating whatever I wanted?

I haven’t climbed onto a scale. I don’t need to do that. I know, absolutely know, that I’ve gained weight.

I can tell in the way that my clothes fit. I can tell in the way my face has started to fill out. I can tell in the way that my waist is disappearing.

I am by no means a thin woman. I never was. In my defense, though, I was always curvaceous. I always had an hourglass figure. I still do. It’s one of the benefits of being well-endowed on top, with wide hips, and a smaller waist than you’d expect in someone my size.

One of my goals is to make sure that I keep that waist. It’s a never ending battle.

Of course, right now I’m supposed to be existing on 1,200 calories a day, to help me lose as much weight as possible before back surgery is necessary. And I’ve been a very very bad girl.

When did I fall off the wagon? I was doing so well, losing about one or two pounds a week without starving. Where did it go wrong?

I guess, a this point, it doesn’t matter. I need to get back on track as soon as possible.

I’ll start after Thanksgiving, with a brief rest for Christmas.

That’s what I think I’ll do.
